Shpongle is an English psychedelic downtempo/psybient music project formed in 1996. The group includes Simon Posford (aka Hallucinogen) and Raja Ram (one third of The Infinity Project). Their musical style combines eastern ethnic instruments and vocals with contemporary western synthesizer-based psychedelic music. Swedish based electronic music composer Magnus Birgersson aka Solar Fields built a unique sonic universe with a constant shifting from high tech ambient flow into broken beats, powerful sequences and fragmented loops.
As a natural born multi-instrumentalist, Magnus plays the Veena, sitar, drums and guitar and is also deeply connected to any sound processing machine. Constantly exploring new musical horizons in his famous high-tech station called Studio Jupiter, Solar Fields likes to develop an evolving dream (“unfinished” as he likes to mention) and offers an intense listening experience.
Grouch is a project that began in 2001, created by New Zealand producer Oscar Allison. His first influences consisted of dub, hip hop, drum and bass, as well as his own experienceas a percussionist. In 2004, after releasing dub tracks for Cosmic Conspiracy Records, Oscar found a new taste for psychedelic music. As he became more involved in the New Zealand trance scene, his music evolved to an original, organic blend of psy dub, breaks and progressive trance. His debut album, "the Moof is Rooving", released in 2007 by newly created A-list Records, consists mostly of psy dub and breaks. Grouch has also completed several psy trance tracks which have been greatly received and acclaimed on the New Zealand dance floors.
